Last Day

Image
Today we finished our adventure.  We ended up In Buffalo and met a buddy of mine Craig Meinking for lunch. As always Craig entertained with some good stories. Today  was suppose to be a 30m bike ride. But due to a lot of construction in Buffalo along the canal it ended up being a 6m walk into the city for Black Rock Park. We all wanted to finish together  and it made sense to finish as we started,  walking. We had some great times and made good memories with great friends. Where do we go next? Enjoy the pics and I hope you enjoyed the blog.

Day 16 Albion to Lockport

Image
Day 2 on the bikes. 25 m today. We rode mostly on stone dust, and right along the canal. We took a break about every 10 miles or so. We did find an old man along the trail and got a picture with him. Lockport is a great place to visit. The picture of the three men sitting on lock steps is a recreation of a picture taken during the construction of the canal. They are to be dedicated this Saturday.   We stayed on a nice locally owned hotel,Lockport Inn and Suites.  Highly recommended. Below are pictures taken along the ride and in Lockport. Enjoyed.

Day 15 Greece to Albion

Image
Today is the first of 3 days on the bike to our final destination Buffalo. A 33m ride today. With a stop in Brockport for lunch. A big thanks to Tom and Diane for a lift to our starting point on Greece. Trail was all stone dust today and right along the canal. We had lunch  at Barbers and will spend the night at Andrea's and Jesse house, Bill and Shelly's daughter and son in law. Jess is also a pilot, so Kathy and I also enjoy a ride in a plane, very cool.  Enjoy today's pics.

Day 13 Newark to Macadon

Image
Last day of walking. A mere 13m today. The plan was to end up at the Twisted Rail Brew house, but it is currently under renovation. We had some friends pick us up and went out to a late lunch. Thanks  to Bill and Lynn. And Tom and Diane for the transportation back to Webster. Here are a few pictures  of our last walking day. We bike the last 100 starting Monday, about 30m per day. So stay tune.

Day 12 Clyde to Newark

Image
A chilly start to our 17m walk, but bright  and sunny. A nice day for a walk. We will pass through the villages of Clyde, Lyons, and end in Newark. All of these are canal Villages, and use the canal to promote tourism. All of our pictures today  are from these Villages. Most of our walk was on trails today with a bit of ride walking at the end. Below  are pics from  the Clyde area. As we were walking through  Lyons  we ran into this guy. Mark De Cracker,  jumped  out of his truck and hailed us down wanting to know if we we hiking the canal. He gave us a tour of Lyons, took many pictures of us in front of the numerous murals. A cute Village. He nicknamed our group the Abby Road Hikers, as one of his pics was the four of us in a cross walk. Hopefully he will forward. Below are the pics in Lyons and of entering Newark.  Enjoy.
