Day 2 Amesterdam to Fultonville

About a 12.5m walk today. Weather was perfect when  we started around 8am. We had breakfast just down the hill of the Amesterdam Castle at a place called Evolve Eatery. Great  healthy  food. We met the owner/cook.Gina a who made us all a great healthy breakfast.

The trail today was paved and shady most of the way.  It passes over the Schoharie River and you have a view of the bridge  that collapsed years ago over the thruway.
We had some time on our hands do we took the time to stop at the
Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs which is located in the hamlet of Auriesville in Fultonville, NY. Once the 17th Century Mohawk Village of Ossernenon, it is now a Roman Catholic shrine dedicated to three Jesuit missionaries who were martyred here, and to St. Kateri Tekakwitha, a Mohawk/Algonquin woman who was born here.

Other pictures  from the day.

So you might  be wondering  where we stayed. Let's just say we went from a hotel to a motel which was a bit of a down grade from the Castle,  but we will surely  be sharing  some good stories  from our one night  stay at the Riverside  Motel.

Tomorrow  night we were  scheduled to stay at the Palatine motel. When I called a Bnb in Canajoharie to see if they had opened back up she pleaded with us to not stay there. To DANGEROUS!  CK day 3 to see what we decided to do.
